The company's original name is L. A. B. Productions, Inc. The L. A. B. represents the initials of my brother’s name, Lehman Alexander Beneby, the founder of the company. Lehman was an on- and off-Broadway theater actor and musician for many years before he wrote his own play and started producing it. After his untimely death in February 2000, I was devastated but found consolation by continuing his company and his legacy in 2005, producing his play in different venues.
In 2011, I discovered an opportunity to become a Supplemental Education Services (SES) vendor with Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) to provide academic tutoring for M-DCPS' Title 1 schools. We successfully tutored Reading as an SES vendor for two years. Upon shifting gears, I began providing tutoring services to the community on my own while still employed in full-time work in different capacities as an educator.
Now that I am retired, I am following my dream to have a Reading and Math tutorial business that I have built from the ground up. I have progressed to where I have employed several tutors to provide Reading and Math tutoring and have awarded many scholarships to fostered and adopted children.
I am motivated to continue to demonstrate that it is "better late than never" to follow your heart.
